Freedom is not merely the absence of rules. It is the ability to create your own line - in the mountains, on the ice, and in life.
Born on the Bothnian Bay in Lapland, I know this. The terrain does not care about your schedule. The ice does not negotiate. The fell does not forgive shortcuts. If you do not understand the environment, you are not free - you are at its mercy.
True freedom in the Arctic is only possible through expertise. Not a week-long course certificate. Years of reading snow, ice and terrain until they become a language you speak without thinking.
Freedom is an intellectual choice.
Freedom is not a commodity. It’s a craft.
The Resistance
Mass tourism has done something insidious to the Arctic. It has turned wilderness into a product. Timed departures. Marked trails. Seasonal staff with scripts. The silence of the North packaged into a two-hour experience with a fixed endpoint.
We refuse this.
We do not employ uneducated seasonal workers. We do not run safari queues. We do not follow marked routes. Every expedition departs when conditions are right - not when the timetable says so.
Mass tourism consumes the wilderness for entertainment. We move through it as our home.
The North deserves better. Not more. Better.
Roots of JUSUKI
JUSUKI was born from a need to return to fundamentals.
Expertise was not built in a classroom. It was forged over years in the backcountry, in the silence of the fells, and winters on the Bothnian Bay sea ice.
I have seen the tourism industry from the inside. I have seen how the pursuit of volume erodes the very things people travel North to find - silence, space, and genuine connection to the wild. I saw expertise replaced by scripts. Individual freedom traded for timed safari queues.
I chose a different path.
I take small groups - never more than six - to terrain that the resort buses never reach. I choose the route on the day based on conditions. I carry local knowledge that cannot be purchased or fast-tracked.
We don't package experiences. We create conditions for real ones.
